Step 1: Draw the Body Outline
Start by drawing a large, rounded, tear-drop shape for the body. Leave a V-shaped opening on the left side to form the mouth.
Step 2: Add the Teeth
Draw a row of sharp, zig-zagging teeth in the V-shaped opening of the mouth.
Step 3: Draw the Angler (Lure)
From the top of the body, draw a long, curved line extending over the head. Add a small, teardrop or oval shape at the end of the line to represent the bioluminescent lure (the ‘fishing rod’).

Draw a few small circles and ovals on the upper half of the body for decorative spots or bioluminescent patches.
Step 10: Color the Anglerfish
The body is colored light blue. The fins (dorsal, pectoral, pelvic, and caudal) and the tail detail are colored orange and red. The angler/lure is colored yellow. The spots are colored dark blue.

Step 6: Draw the Bottom Fin
On the underside of the body, draw another set of spiky, wavy, or triangular shapes to form the bottom fin.
Step 7: Add the Pectoral Fin
On the side of the body, draw a small, rounded triangle or teardrop shape for a side (pectoral) fin.
Step 8: Draw the Eyes
Draw two large circles inside the front part of the body for the eyes. Inside each large circle, draw a smaller circle for the iris/pupil, and a tiny circle (or two) within that for a sparkle/highlight.
Step 9: Create the Mouth and Teeth
Draw a curved line for the mouth. This line should be a big, upward-curving smile. Along the mouth line, draw a series of small, sharp, upward and downward-pointing triangles to represent the anglerfish’s teeth.
Step 10: Finalize and Color!
Color your anglerfish! The example shows a light blue body, green fins and lure stem, and a yellow light/esca. The eyes are colored black for the pupils.

Step 4: The Tail
Draw the caudal fin (tail fin) at the pointed end of the body on the right. It should have a slightly scalloped or uneven edge.
Step 5: The Dorsal Fins
Draw the first few sections of the dorsal fin on the top part of the back, behind the illicium. These are drawn as two or three small, triangular-like shapes.
Step 6: The Pectoral Fin
Add the pectoral fin (side fin) on the body, positioned a bit further back from the head. It’s shaped like a small, rounded triangle.
Step 7: The Pelvic Fin
Draw the pelvic fin (bottom fin) underneath the body, closer to the tail than the head. It is a small, curved shape.
Step 8: The Eye and Eyebrow
Draw an angry-looking eye near the front of the face, above the mouth line. You can draw a small circle with a slanted line above it for a grumpy expression.
Step 9: Upper Teeth
Draw a series of sharp, small triangular teeth along the top jaw line.
Step 10: Lower Jaw Line
Draw a straight or slightly curved line near the bottom of the body to define the lower jaw/mouth opening. This completes the basic outline and features of the anglerfish.
Step 11: Finalize and Color!
Color your anglerfish! The example uses a warm brown for the main body and a lighter brown for the belly. The lure is yellow, and the eyes are a mix of white and black.
