Step 1: Begin by drawing a wide, open-mouthed cup or a U-shape. This will serve as the base for the character’s body.
Step 2: Building on the previous step, attach a scalloped, wing-like shape to both the upper left and upper right sides of the main cup shape. These are the character’s flippers or small wings.
Step 3: To define the head, draw a smooth arc that connects the upper tips of the two flippers. This transforms the top of the ‘U’ into a closed head form.

Step 9: The final character is completed by filling in the black pupils of the eyes. To make the chicken more colorful, fill the body and wings with a bright yellow. Use red for the head crest and the wattle, and color the beak and the legs orange.
Step 1: Start by drawing a wide, rounded, egg-like shape that is flatter on the bottom. This will form the main part of the chick’s head and the base for the upper body.
Step 2: Draw two separate, curved lines extending downwards from the bottom edge of the egg shape, one on the left and one on the right. These lines outline the chick’s small body that is still within the eggshell.
Step 3: To start the cracked eggshell, draw a jagged, zigzag line that goes across the width of the page, below and around the chick’s body lines, and extends a little bit beyond them on both sides.
Step 4: Draw a deep, smooth, semi-circular or cup-like curve that connects the two ends of the jagged zigzag line from Step 3. This completes the shape of the lower broken eggshell.
Step 5: Add two feet for the chick, placing them below the very bottom center of the eggshell. Each foot is drawn with three small, rounded toes facing forward.
Step 6: Place two small, scalloped, wing-like shapes, made of three connected lobes, onto the upper body, with one on each side where the head and body meet.
Step 7: Draw a small, three-lobed tuft (comb) on the very top center of the chick’s head. It should be small and positioned between the wings.
Step 8: Give the chick a face. Draw two short, simple curves for happy eyes, and add a simple, wide, upward-pointing triangular shape below the eyes to make the beak. The face is now complete.
Step 9: Color in the drawing. Fill the chick (head and body) and wings with a light-yellow or pale-gold color. Use a warm red for the head crest (comb), a light orange for the beak and feet, and a warm grey or light brown for the eggshell.
Step 1: Start by drawing a small, upright bow near the top-center of the paper. This will be the main accessory for the chick.
Step 2: Building upon Step 1, draw a few small, jagged, M-like peaks sticking up from behind the bow. This creates the basic look of the tuft on top of the head.
Step 3: To define the head, draw a large, smooth circle that attaches below the bow. The top edge of this circle should be hidden where the bow sits.
Step 4: Now, add a second large circle directly beneath the first one to serve as the chick’s body. It should be slightly smaller or the same size as the head circle.
Step 5: Give the chick some wings by attaching a small, scalloped, three-lobed shape to each side of the lower (body) circle.
Step 6: Draw two small legs and feet, sticking out from the bottom center of the body circle. Each foot should be a simple shape with three rounded toes.
Step 7: For the eyes, draw two large, perfect, double-ringed concentric circles (one inner circle within an outer ring) inside the upper (head) circle. They should take up a lot of space to look very big. Then, add two smaller circles and two even smaller uncolored dots within each larger eye ring for pupils and highlights.
Step 8: To complete the face, draw a simple diamond shape centered between and slightly below the eyes for the beak.
Step 9: Color the bow red and the tuft behind it a paler red. Fill the chick’s head, body, and wings with a bright yellow. Color the legs and beak a simple orange. The centers of the eyes, between the double rings, should be black.
