Step 1. Draw the Core
Start in the upper center of your drawing area by drawing a small, simple circle. This will serve as the center of the flower.
Step 2. Inner Petal Outlines
Attach three small, curved shapes to the circle from the previous step. Place two smaller, lobed shapes above the circle, extending to the left and right, like small ears. Add a third, single, larger lobed shape attached below the circle, pointing downwards.
Step 3. Outer Lower Petals
Using the shapes from the previous step as a guide, draw two much larger, overlapping, curved shapes around them. These forms should be lobed, starting near the upper-left of the small “ears” and joining near the bottom of the lower lobe. These represent the larger, face-like lower petals.
Step 4. Top Petals
Complete the flower’s structure by adding two large, overlapping, fan-like shapes at the very top. These should attach to the upper curves of the two lower-side petals. Your complete flower head, or pansy “face,” is now outlined.
Step 5. Add the Stem
From the absolute center-bottom of the flower head, draw a single, relatively thick, slightly curved vertical line downward to form the stem. The line should be solid and extend toward the bottom of the page.
Step 6. Skeleton of the Leaves
At the bottom of the stem, near the base, add two short, branching line-skeletons. Draw one branching line extending diagonally upwards to the left from the stem, and a matching one to the right. These are the veins for the leaf bases.
Step 7. Full Leaves and Final Details
Create complete leaves around the line-skeletons from the previous step. Draw two rounded, irregularly notched leaf shapes that encompass the existing vein-lines. Ensure they attach neatly to the base of the stem. The entire pansy plant sketch is now complete in outline.
Step 8. Color and Finish
Fill the two innermost “ear” lobes and the bottom lobe with dark purple, the larger, face-like lower-side petals with a medium blue, the two large, top-rear petals with a lighter violet-purple. Add a small dot of bright orange to the very center circle. Fill the leaves with a sage green and the stem with a slightly darker moss green.

Begin by drawing the central detail of the flower. This shape is a jagged, somewhat star-like form with five points, which will be the very core of the pansy.

Repeat the previous step inside the left petal. Draw a similar pattern of complex, spiky lines, originating from the left side of the core and filling the inner area of the left petal.
Step 6: Bottom Petal Spiky and Wavy Detail
Finally, add details to the large bottom petal. Draw a smaller spiky V-pattern pointing downwards directly below the central core. Below that, draw a larger, loose, wavy-lined dome shape, filling much of the lower bottom petal. The outline drawing is now complete.
Step 7: Full Coloring and Final Touches
Fill all five main petal areas with golden yellow. The spiky details inside the left and right petals should be filled with black. The small spiky pattern and the larger wavy pattern on the bottom petal should be filled with black. Fill the very central core shape with bright yellow.

Extend a pointed leaf shape with a central vein line and smaller side veins from the left side of the flower head.
Step 8: Add the Second Leaf

Fill the central circle with vibrant yellow. The radiating stamen lines and all outlines should be black. Fill the inner regions of the five petals (defined in Step 6) with a rich, deep purple. Fill the outer margins of the petals (outside the curves from Step 6) with a lighter, lavender-purple. Apply a solid, medium green color to both leaves and their vein structures.

Add two more large, rounded petals to the top of the flower, behind the initial upper-middle cluster. These top petals overlap slightly, completing the pansy’s five-petal flower shape
Step 6: Draw the main flower stem.
Below the large bottom petals, extend two parallel, vertical lines downwards to form the flower’s stem
Step 7: Add lower leaf stems.
From near the base of the main stem, draw two smaller stems, one pointing diagonally left and the other right, as bases for leaves
Step 8: Define the leaf shapes.
Along each of the smaller stems, draw a prominent leaf with scalloped, serrated edges, typical of a pansy leaf
Step 9: Apply the final colors.
Color the top petals a warm, golden yellow. The lower petals should be a lighter peach-yellow, with the wavy central patterns colored dark brown, and the very center a vibrant green-yellow. The stem and leaves are colored with a natural, muted green.
